Prizes presented to first Sayawun Tin Shwe Literary Award winners
Yangon, 12 Nov - The ceremony to present prizes to the winners of the first Sayawun Tin Shwe Literary Awards was held at the MICT Park in Hline Township this morning.
Chairman of MWJA U Hla Myaing (Ko Hsaung) made an opening speech and Chairman of the Scrutinizing Committee U Myo Thant (Maung Hsu Shin) reported on the matters related to the scrutinizing of the literary works.
Then, prizes were given away to the winners. Chairman U Myo Thant (Maung Hsu Shin) presented the belles letters award to Pakokku U Ohn Pe for
"Twaeya-kyonya-kyundaw-bawa (My experiences)" and wife of late Sayawun Tin Shwe, Daw Aye Thant, the general knowledge award to U Thein Khine (Asia Wealth Bank) for
"Naingngan-taka-ban-lokngan (International banking services - Laws and
Procedures)".
Then, Daw Aye Thant presented gifts to members of the Scrutinizing Committee and contestants to the literary awards.
Afterwards, Minister for Education (Retd) Professor (Psychology) Dr Kyaw Sein explained matters related to the scrutinizing of the literary works. Daw Aye Thant spoke words of thanks and the ceremony came to a close.
The Sayawun Tin Shwe Literary Awards were established to present literary awards under the patronage of the MWJA by the family members of late Writer Sayawun Tin Shwe who had strong attachment to literary tasks and performed literary services.
Non-fiction books published in 2002 may be submitted for the award to the committee.
