Ceremony to offer Kathina robes donated by King of Thailand held

 

Yangon, 12 Nov - A ceremony to offer Kathina robes donated by the King of Thailand was held at Maha Visuddhayon Kyaungtaik in Nandawin Street, Bahan Township at 9 am today.

First, Minister U Aung Khin and Permanent Secre- tary Mr Tej Bunnag ignited the lights. Next~ Mr Tej Bunnag offered Shwekya Thingan to the Buddha Image.

The ceremony was then opened with the three-time recitation of Namo Tassa and State Ovadacariya Joint Shwekyin Sasanabaing Abhidhaja Maha Ratthaguru Bahan Township Sirimanta Sankyaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Rajindha Bhivamsa administered the Five Precepts to the congregation. Then the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha recited parittas.

 

On behalf of the King of Thailand, Permanent Secretary Mr Tej Bunnag presented Kathina robes and offertories to the Yaw Sayadaw. The minister, the deputy minister and Thai Ambassador Mr Oum Maolanon, departmental heads, officials and wellwishers donated offertories to the Sayadaws. Mr Tej Bunnag supplicated on the purpose of the donations and handed over Baht 10,000 donated by the King of Thailand to the minister.

Mr Oum Maolanon and an official of Thai Embassy presented US$ 4,651 donated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and US$ 2,996 donated by the King of Thailand to offer Kathina robes receptively to the minister. Then, an official of Thai Embassy presented K 922,200, baht 2,400, US$ 100 and FEC 100 donated by the wellwishers of Thailand who are currently here; and TMCECA Secretary-General Gen Sanan Kajornklam K 1 million donated by the association.

The deputy minister accepted the donations. Yaw Sayadaw delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits gained and the ceremony ended with the three-time recitation of Buddha Sasanam Ciramtitthatu. Later, soon was offered to the Sayadaws and members of the Sanhga.
