First, the Secretary-1 delivered an address.
The Secretary-1 said all national people are now making endeavours for enabling the Union of Myanmar to keep abreast of the development of international communities. Therefore, many intellectuals and intelligentsia who will effectively bring about the development of the nation and its people in all sectors are needed.
He said increasing number of highly-qualified management technicians on economics produced by MBA courses are new forces to promote national economic life. As the Union of Myanmar is promoting economic and social relations and cooperation with international communities, modern science and technology and management that can effectively be applied in the national interest are needed more and more day by day, he said.
The government has laid down national economic plans and is implementing them for making national economic life to be strong and for enabling the Union of Myanmar to stand tall among the nations of the world. The government is also laying emphasis on development of national economic enterprises that can shape the national economic life.
At the same time, the government is making systematic arrangements for turning out economists and management technicians. Especially, the government has given encouragement to the development of the private sector in accord with the market-oriented economic system. Arrangements are being made for emergence of economists and management technicians not only in government departments but also in the private sector.
The MBA course was conducted at the Yangon Institute of Economics in 1995 and every qualified government servant and company staff can take the course. With the success of the BMA
courses, there are now 266 MBA graduates including 87 from the
fifth and sixth MBA courses. Moreover, a similar course was
opened at Monywa Institute of Economics.
He said MBA graduates are successfully working at government departments, local and foreign firms, banks and economic enterprises as managers.
Performances of MBA graduates working at various economic sectors for success of the respective departments contribute towards strong national economic life.
The government believes that keeping abreast with the development of international communities depends only on efficiency and skill of MSyanmar citizens.
If high-qualified national intellectuals and intelligentsia emerge at every sector, any challenge which is internationally popular can be addressed.
Nowadays, the internal and external destructive elements under the influence and with the support of some West bloc have been making attempts to destroy the efforts for national development and strengthening national economy resorting to various means and ways.
At the same time, those holding negative views are making slanderous accusations saying that progress have not been made in Myanmar in the absence of highly-qualified technicians and wrong management with every intention of tarnishing national prestige and integrity.
In reality, Myanmar has made progress in all sectors unprecedented due to sustained and relentless efforts on self reliance basis despite facing sanctions imposed by the West bloc. It is undeniable that significant development have been made in economic, health, education and social sectors as well as in basic infrastructures including roads, bridges and dams.
Nowadays, technicians of international level have emerged in economic, management, education, health and social sectors and they are engaged in national and regional development tasks.
Realizing the fact that turning out intellectuals and intelligentsia is to enable the nation to be free from the influence and support of other countries, every technician will have to strive to enable the nation to stand shoulder to shoulder with the nations of the world.
As developments in science and technology in the world become influent in developing spheres, all technicians will have to make strenuous efforts with nationalistic spirit to be in conformity with those developments.
He called on the MBA degree holders are to make efforts for further progress in good economic infrastructures which have already been developed firmly as well as for national development by means of business management skills.
