Commander inspects sanitation works in South Okkalapa Township
Yangon, 2 Nov - Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe, inspected the sanitation tasks being collectively carried out by Tatmadawmen, policemen, YCDC staff, members of USDA, Red Cross Brigade, Auxiliary Fire Brigade, MMCWA and MNWCWA and the local people.
First, the commander and party at 6.30 am arrived at Nandawun Market on Thumingala Street in South Okkalapa Township where they were welcomed by Secretary of YCDC Col Myint Aung, Commander of No 2 Military Region Lt-Col Myint Kyi, Secretary of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Kyaw Tint and members and officials. Then, the commander and party inspected sale of vegetables, personal goods and grocery at the market and gave instructions to officials. They then inspected work being carried out for proper drainage in front of Women and Children Hospital in South Okkalapa.
Officials of YCDC reported on tasks being undertaken for proper drainage with the help of charts to the commander who gave instructions on work to be carried out for sanitation and proper drainage at hospitals, schools, offices and residential wards. Next, the commander, Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein and the vice-mayor attended the cash donation for medical funds and sanitation equipment donation ceremony held at Women and Children Hospital on Miytta Road in South Okkalapa and accepted the donations.
The commander explained the donation of sanitation equipment to the hospital under the arrangement of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, cooperation of departmental officials, NGOs and the people in building a garden city, the role of sanitation to keep the city freeing from disease and increasing the life expectancy. Then, the commander presented the sanitation equipment for the hospital through Minister Maj-Gen Ket Sein,
Then, the cash donation for medical funds was held. The donations were over K 4.09 million including K100,000 by YCDC, K 300,000 by Ayeya Myay Co, K 200,000 by Gold Lite Co, K 200,000 by TWJS Co, K 200,000 by Pacific Food Industries Co, K 100,000 by South Okkalapa Township War Veterans Organization and others. The commander, the minister, the vice-mayor and officials accepted the donations and presented certificates of honour.
Next, the medical superintendent spoke words of thanks, which brought the ceremony to a
close.
