Stake driving ceremony of Panhlaing Bridge held

Yangon, 6 Nov - Stake driving ceremony of Panhlaing Bridge across Panhlaing River was held on Panhlaing River bank, seven furlongs from Yangon-Nyaungdon high way, near Hlinethaya Industrial Zone in Hlinethaya Township, Yangon North District this morning.
Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe, Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun and Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Myint Thein attended the
remony.
First, Maj-Gen Saw Tun made an address and Commander Maj-Gen Myint Swe spoke words of thanks.
At the auspicious time, Maj-Gen Saw Tun, Commander Maj-Gen Myint Swe and Brig-Gen Myint Thein drove the stakes and sprinkled the scented water on it.
Next, the commander and the ministers performed the rituals of golden and silver showers to mark the successful completion of the ceremony. The Panhlaing bridge flanked by four feet wide pedestrian lanes will be 500 feet long and 28 feet wide and, its approach road will be 1,440 feet long.
The bridge will be of reinforced concrete one and its clearance will be 75 feet wide and 20 feet high. It can withstand 60-ton loads.
Upon completion, the people from Ayeyawady Division can easily travel to Yangon through Kungyangon, Kaw-hmu, Twantay and Hlinethaya Township.
