Minister inspects
construction projects on western bank of Ayeyawady River
YANGON, 5 June - Minister for Agriculture and
Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin,
together with departmental officials, arrived
at the work site of Ma Mya Dam Construction Project under implementation at
Hmyinwataung region in Myanaung Township, Hinthada District, Ayeyawady
Division, on 3 June.
Officials reported on the
concrete wall and the main embankment, spillway and conduit under
construction. The minister laid down future plans and dealt with
construction of new dams on the western bank of Ayeyawady River, conditions
of the creeks and availability of water. He then inspected the construction
site.

The minister and party
inspected the Kanyin Creek Dam Construction Project site and the flow of the
creek.

In the afternoon, they met
farmers at Yenangyaung Village, Wataw Village-tract, Maubin Township, Maubin
District, Ayeyawady Division, and discussed matters on growing jute. They
then inspected the jute plantations.
They proceeded to the paper
mill under Myanma Jute Enterprise in Maubin.
Officials
reported on construction of a new factory and renovation of the present one;
and Chinese experts, on installation of machines to the factory.
Afterwards, the minister gave
instructions on timely completion of the project and inspected construction
of the factory.
