Senior General Than Shwe and
wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing offer provisions to Sayadaws in Taunggyi

Yangon, 17 April -
Rice, edible oil, salt and provisions were donated to Pariyatti Sarthintaiks
in Taunggyi of Shan State at the Dhammayon of Taunggyi on 15 April morning.
Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of
Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe and wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing
presented offertories to member Sayadaws of the Sangha.
Also present on the occasion
were State Ovadacariya Sayadaws, Sayadaws and members of the Sangha from 50
Sarthintaiks, member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thura
Shwe Mann, Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Soe
Win, members of the State Peace and Development Council, the
Commander-in-Chief (Navy), the Commander-in-Chief (Air), the Chairman of
Shan State Peace and Development Council Commander of Eastern Command, the
ministers, senior military officers, responsible personnel of the State
Peace and Development Council Office, departmental heads, local authorities,
and members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association.
On the occasion, the
congregation received the Five Precepts from State Ovadacariya Agga Maha
Pandita Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika Theintaung Sayadawgyi Bhaddanta
Chandadhika.
Then, the Sayadaw and members
of the Sangha recited parittas.
Senior General Than Shwe and
wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing offered rice, edible oil, salt and provisions to
Sayadaws. Likewise, those who accompanied the Senior General also offered
provisions to Sayadaws.
Afterwards, State Ovadacariya
Nyaungshwe Shwegu Pariyatti Sarthintaik's Presiding Sayadaw Agga Maha
Pandita Bhaddanta Vilasabhivamsa delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of
merits gained.
