Parittas recited, meritorious deeds performed on Myanmar New Year Day

Yangon, 17 April - The ceremony to recite Parittas for staff families of the Ministry of Information to be free from dangers was held at the hall of the Ministry of Information on Bo Aung Kyaw Street on Myanmar New Year Day and 1st Waning of Tagu, 1365 ME (17 April 2003), attended by Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan.

First, Minister Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan, Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Aung Thein and the congregation took the Five Precepts from Dagon Pariyatti Monastery Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Gunananda.

Then, Minister Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan donated offertories to the Sayadaws. Next, members of the Sangha recited Mingala Sutta and Parittas. The minister and those present shared merits gained. Also present on the occasion were Managing Director of Printing and Publishing Enterprise U Myint Thein, officials and staff families of the ministry.

Similarly, the Parittas recitation ceremony to mark the Myanmar New Year Day was held at the hall of Printing and Publishing Enterprise on Bo Aung Kyaw Street at 9 am today.

Present on the occasion were Sayadaw Gunananda and members of the Sangha, Managing Director of PPE U Myint Thein, General Manager U Thet Soe, Deputy General Manager (Admin) U Lay Khaing, Deputy General Manager (Accounts) U Mya Maung, Deputy General Manager Daw Mya Mya and staff families.

News & Periodicals Enterprise
Likewise, News and Periodicals Enterprise held the Parittas recitation ceremony at the head office of the enterprise on Theinbyu Street at 10 am today.

Present on the occasion were Pazundaung Myatheindan Monastery Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw Agga Maha Ganthavaçaka Pandita Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Kesara and members of the Sangha, Director (News) U Hla Tun of NPE, Director (Admin) U Soe Win, Chief Editor U Soe Naung of Myanma News Agency (External), Deputy Director (Admin) U Mya Hlaing, departmental officials and staff families.

First, Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kesara administered the Nine Precepts. Then, Director (News) U Hla Tun, Director (Admin) U Soe Win and officials donated provisions to the Sayadaws.

Next, the congregation heard Metta Sutta and Parittas recited by members of the Sangha. After hearing a sermon, the staff families shared merits gained. Later, 'soon' was offered to the Sayadaws.
