Parittas water poured into reservoirs

Yangon, 17 April - A ceremony to recite parittas and pour paritta water into Phugyi, Gyobyu, Hlawga and Ngamoeyeik reservoirs was held for Yangon residents to be free from harm and dangers at Phugyi reservoir of Yangon City Development Committee this morning.

It was attended by members of the Sangha led by Vice-Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaw of Bahan Township Aungmyaybonsan Kyaungtaik Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Panindabhivamsa, Chairman of YCDC Mayor U Ko Lay and wife, Vice-Chairman Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa and wife, Joint-Secretary U Kyi Win and wife, committee members and heads of departments and their wives, officials and guests.

The ceremony was opened with the three-time recitation of Namo Tassa. Then, the mayor and the congregation received the Nine Precepts from the vice-chairman Sayadaw.

Afterwards, members of the Sangha recited Metta Sutta and parittas. Then, the mayor and officials presented offertories to the Sayadaw and members of the Sangha. Joint-Secretary Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Kuntalajoti delivered a sermon, followed by the sharing of merits gained.

Afterwards, the mayor and officials poured paritta water into Phugyi reservoir. Then, the mayor, officials and their wives offered 'soon' to members of the Sangha.

Head of Engineering Department (Water and Sanitation) of YCDC U Thaung Yin and staff poured paritta water into Gyobyu, Hlawga and Ngamoeyeik reservoirs in Taikkyi, Mingaladon and Hlegu Townships.

Afterwards, the mayor and officials attended the parittas reciting ceremony in the City Farm and Resort in Taikkyi Township and presented offertories to members of the Sangha led by Thebya Village Sayadaw.
