Secretary-1 General
Khin Nyunt inspects development tasks in Kachin State

Yangon, 27
April — Chairman of the Work Committee for Development of Border
Areas and National Races Secretary-1 of the State Peace and
Development Council General Khin Nyunt, left here by flight of
Myanma Airways on 26 April morning and arrived at Myitkyina
Airport in Kachin State at 10.45 am.
Accompanied by
Commander Maj-Gen Maung Maung Swe, the Secretary-1 and party
arrived at Putao Airport at 11.50 am.

They were
welcomed at the airport by Tactical Operations Commander Col
Khaing Soe, district and township authorities, departmental
personnel and USDA members.
Then, they left
the airport by Tatmadaw helicopter and arrived in Nagmon where
they were welcomed by members of Nagmon Township Peace and
Development Council, service personnel, USDA members and local
people.

First,
Secretary-1 General Khin Nyunt asked the local people about
progress of economic and social conditions. The Secretary-1
visited Myoma Market in Nagmon.
At
the town hall, the Secretary-1 met with local authorities and
departmental personnel. Chairman of Nagmon Township Peace and
Development Council U Tun Mya reported on the location and area,
geographical condition, population, national races residing in
the township and regional development such as agriculture,
education, health and transport. The commander gave a
supplementary report.
After hearing the
reports, the Secretary-1 gave necessary instructions and
fulfilled the requirements of such regional development tasks as
education, health, transport and installation of TV
re-transmitter.
Then, the
Secretary-1 presented gifts including satellite receivers to the
local national races of Nagmon and Pannandin.
Next, Commander
Maj-Gen Maung Maung Swe presented K 1 million towards the
medical trust-fund to Nagmon Hospital and a radio-cassette to
the local people.
Then, Minister
for Home Affairs Col Tin Hlaing presented sewing machines and
accessories and medicines to the local national races of Nagmon
and Pannandin.
The gifts
presented by the Secretary-1 and party were Maung Myanmar
bicycles and parts, sewing machines and accessories, TV
antennas, medicines, carpenter equipment, garment and textile,
hairdressing equipment, the generator, the satellite dish and
satellite receiver, TV set and accessories and personal goods.

Then, the
Secretary-1 and party viewed the generator and the satellite
dish and satellite receiver donated by USDA Secretariat Member
Minister for Communications, Posts and Telegraphs Brig-Gen Thein
Zaw.
The Secretary-1
and party then planted Macademia saplings in the compound of the
City Hall.

Next, the
Secretary-1 and party posed for documentary photos with service
personnel and local people in front of the city hall.

Afterwards, the
Secretary-1 accepted gifts of the local national races. Then,
the Secretary-1 and party arrived back in Myitkyina in the
evening.

They then
proceeded to Government Computer College of the Ministry of
Science and Technology in Myitkyina where they were welcomed by
principal in-charge of the college Daw Khin Than Mya and
teachers.
First, principal
in-charge Daw Khin Than Mya reported on number of students and
training courses at GCC (Myitkyina), number of teacher and
academic matters including installation of teaching aids.

Deputy Minister
for Science and Technology U Nyi Hla Nge gave a supplementary
report.

Then, Executive
Engineer U Aung Myat Kyaw of Sun Flower Construction Co reported
on supply of power and water and progress of construction tasks.

The Secretary-1
inspected the scale model of the main building of the college
and attended to their needs. Next, they inspected the computer
room. They then went to Government Technological College (Myitkyina)
where they were welcomed by Principal U Hla Myo Aung and
teachers.
The principal
reported on history of the college, conducting of subjects,
number of students and academic matters. Deputy Minister U Nyi
Hla Nge gave a supplementary report.

General Khin
Nyunt gave instructions on preparations to be made for upgrading
GTC (Myitkyina) into the university level.
Next, the General
and party arrived at Malikha Yeiktha in Myitkyina.
This morning,
Secretary-1 General Khin Nyunt met with departmental personnel
and officials at Malikha Yeiktha in Myitkyina and gave
instructions on matters related to roads and bridges being built
in Kachin State.

The commander
reported on upgrading of Bhamo-Myitkyina Road and
Myitkyina-Sum-prabum-Putao Road.

Jade Land Myanmar
Co Ltd Chairman U Yup Zaw Khong reported on project tasks in
upgrading Bhamo-Myitkyina Road and Myitkyina-Sumpra-bum-Putao
Road.
Project Engineer
U Tin Myint reported on construction of 110 miles long
Bhamo-Myitkyina Road, maintenance of 54 miles long Bhamo-Lajayan
by Public Works, construction of 24 miles long gravel section on
36 miles long Lajayan to Dabatyan road, construction of 10 miles
long gravel section on 20 miles long Dabatyan-Waingmaw Road,
preparations for construction of 18 feet wide tarred road,
building of under-50 feet long bridges and conduits maintenance
of Sumpra-bum-Putao section on Myitkyina-Sumprabum-Putao Road.

Minister for
Forestry U Aung Phone and Deputy Minister for Agriculture and
Irrigation Brig-Gen Khin Maung reported on assistance to be
provided to regional development tasks.
Then, the General
gave necessary instructions.
Yesterday
evening, Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, who
accompanied the Secretary-1, met with Kachin State Manager U
Kyaw Zaw Maung and staff of Myanma Agricultural Produce Trading
at the office of the manager and gave instructions on measures
to be taken for minimizing loss and wastage and duty to be
discharged with goodwill.

Yesterday evening, Deputy Minister for Education Brig-Gen Soe
Win Maung met the Kachin State Education Officer, the TEOs, the
principal of Education College and teachers and gave
instructions on appointment of teachers, renovation of schools,
distribution of exercise books and education matters.

The same evening,
Deputy Minister for Health Prof Dr Mya Oo went to Myitkyina
People’s Hospital and inspected medical and patient wards and
hospital equipment. Then, the deputy minister explained matters
related to SARS disease. |
