Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than and Lt-Gen Tin Aye, accompanied by the commander, proceeded to the site of Daka Bridge Construction Project being undertaken in Kangyidaunt Township by Special Bridge Construction Group-4 of Public Works. At the briefing hall, Deputy Superintending Engineer U Om Zapa reported on progress of construction tasks. Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than gave necessary instructions.  Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than and Lt-Gen Tin Aye, together with the commander, inspected progress in building the bridge. Deputy Superintending Engineer U Om Zapa conducted them round the construction site.

Daka Bridge is being built crossing Daka River to link Kyaunggon and Kangyidaunt townships. The bridge is being built of reinforced concrete beam and reinforced concrete floor. The foundation is of reinforced concrete bored piles and pre-stressed reinforced concrete piles. The bridge will be 1,400 feet long with a 28-foot-wide motor road and 5 feet wide pedestrian way on the either sides. Water clearance will be 16 feet high and 93 feet wide. It can withstand  60-ton loads.

The construction tasks of the bridge will soon be completed. At Pyiaye Hall of Thabaung Township Peace and Development Council, Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than and party met with local authorities, departmental personnel, members of USDA, MWVO and social organizations and gave instructions on regional development tasks.

First, Township Peace and Development Council Chairman U Khin Latt reported on the location and area of the township, land utilization and agricultural tasks.

Then Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than made a speech. He said townships in Ayeyawady Division produce not only rice and marine products but also foodstuff and other consumer goods. But there are many rivers and creeks in the division and transportation is to rely on water transport. So there had been difficulties in travelling and transportation.  In the time of Tatmadaw government, thanks to extension of roads, construction of major river-crossing and minor bridges, there is smooth transportation and this contributes to upgrading of socio-economic life of local people. But, efforts are still to be made for more development.

As the country is an agro-based one and agriculture is successful in Ayeyawady Division, local people are to strive for more development of agriculture sector in their interest and in the interest of the State. Moreover, efforts are to be made for development of fishery sector suitable to the region, he said.

The State is laying plans for economic development of the State. In addition, three strategies — the border areas and national races development project, the 24 development zones project and the five rural area development tasks — have been laid down and implemented with added momentum to narrow down the development gaps among regions in states/divisions and uplift the living standard of the people. So, regional administrative bodies, departmental officials and social organizations are to unitedly carry out the tasks at the grass-roots level for more development, strive for the cities to have the characteristics of a city, and sanitary tasks and tasks for prevalence of law and order. He also spoke of the need of the departmental officials to discharge assigned duties with goodwill.

Then, Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than and party inspected building of Thabaung-Yaynantha-Ngathaingchaung road section which is 43 miles and three furlongs long on the west bank of Ngawun River.

At the briefing hall of Bodaw Creek, Maj Than Win of South-West Command reported on arrangements for construction of roads and collection of raw materials .
