Commander attends summer paddy
harvesting ceremony in Hlegu

April — Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Chairman
Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Myint Swe attended the summer
paddy harvesting ceremony at 1,500 acres of special zone in
Talokkon Village, Thanatpyin Village-tract in Hlegu Township
this morning and fulfilled the needs.
First, the
commander inspected harvesting of sample Hmawby Hsan paddy
strain at plot No 1057 (A) of farmer U Pho Toke with the use of
combined harvester. He then met with local farmers. Division
Manager of Myanma Agriculture Service U Aung San first explained
use of EM Bokashi fertilizer and arangements for providing
agricultural techniques to the farmers. Director of Yangon
Division Irrigation Department U Kyaw Thein reported on supply
of irrigation water and tasks to be undertaken for more
irrigated areas.
Then, the
commander delivered an address. He said the State is an
agro-based country and so agriculture sector plays a pivotal
role for development of the State. Therefore, the farmers need
to cultivate to exceed the targets. More paddy will be
cultivated and farmers will gain more income. He pointed out
that by using combined harvester of the Agricultural
Mechanization the department can save energy and minimize the
wastage and complete harvesting works in time. He urged the
farmers to widely apply modern agricultural technology and to
make efforts in cooperation with local authorities to turn their
villages into model ones. Then, the commander attended to their
requirements.
Sample plot of
Hmawby Hsan summer paddy strain of farmer U Pho Toke yielded
120.3 baskets of paddy per acre.
Afterwards, the
commander inspected dredging of Shandegyi Creek to ensure proper
flow of water. Director of Irrigation Department U Kyaw Thein
reported on work being carried out to the commander, who
fulfilled the requirements. |
