    Arms for Peace    

Armed group members exchange arms for peace

Yangon, 28 April - The State Peace and Development Council, upholding Our Three Main National Causes, laid down 12 Objectives and is striving for national reconsolidation for emergence of a peaceful, modern and developed nation with genuine goodwill.

Remaining armed group members, understanding the correct endeavours and genuine goodwill of the government and realizing their destructive acts, have been exchanging arms for peace individually or in groups.

In March 2003, private Aik Khin of No 453 Battalion, Brigade 727 of SURA armed group exchanged arm for peace in Triangle Region Command, private Maung Gwee (a) Thein Myint Oo of No 4 Company, No 3 DO Battalion, No 1 Brigade and Pvt Kyaw Myint Naing of No 2 Company, No 2 Battalion, No 1 Brigade of KNU armed group in South-East Command, platoon commander Htay Aung (a) Win Htet of No 3 Battalion of ABSDF armed group bringing one revolver, platoon commander Myint Pe (a) Hsan Shay of No 201 Battalion of ABSDF armed group in Coastal Region Command bringing together with one pistol, one magazine and 12 rounds of ammunition.

Officials of respective military camps warmly welcomed them and provided necessary assistance to them.
