Lt-Gen Maung Bo looks into
regional development tasks in Mon State
Yangon, 2 April-Member of the State Peace
and Development Council Lt-Gen Maung Bo of the Ministry of Defence together
with Mon State Peace and Development Council Chairman South-East Command
Commander Maj-Gen Thura Myint Aung, officials from the State Peace and
Development Council Office and departmental officials, arrived at Mawlamyine
in Mon State on 30 March morning. Lt-Gen Maung Bo and party were briefed by
Htoo Trading Co Ltd General Manager U Zaw Min Thein on construction tasks
for Kanna Road and retaining wall there.
Then, Lt-Gen Maung Bo and
party attended the ceremony to install steel frames of the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine).
They arrived at the briefing hall of Phase-1 of the extension project for
city plot where Mon State Development Affairs Department Director U Hla
Myint reported on construction tasks and tasks for supplying water and Mon
State Settlements & Land Records Department Head U Thet Naing Oo on land
reclamation and Mon State Irrigation Department Head U Tint Hsan on
arrangements for better drainage system.
After leaving instructions
there, Lt-Gen Maung Bo inspected renovation of the 18 miles long
Mawlamyine-Mudon Road and the 20 miles long Mudon-Chaunghnakhwa road. He
also inspected completion of construction tasks for rural roads linking
villages carried out by the Ministry for PBANRDA. Mawlamyine District
Superintending Engineer U Win Tint of the Public Works reported to Lt-Gen
Maung Bo on work progress. Lt-Gen Maung Bo said the Government is giving
priority to betterment of rural roads and bridges that are needed to promote
the socio-economic life of people in rural areas where majority of
population reside. He urged officials concerned and local people to make
cooperation.
Then, Lt-Gen Maung Bo paid
homage and presented offertories to Presiding Sayadaw of Kadoe Mahayin
Pariyatti monastery Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Ardicca
in Mawlamyine Township. Lt-Gen Maung Bo inspected the construction site for
Kadoe Station Hospital built with the donation of K 60 million made by
wellwishers U Tin Hla-Daw Kyin Ngwe family. Then, he offered flowers and
lights to the Buddha images in Kawhnat Village. He made cash donations
there.

inspected completion of earth work for the Kadoehnat-Zathabyin Road that
link Kayin State and Mon State. Mawlamyine Township Peace and Development
Council Chairman U Soe Thein reported to Lt-Gen Maung Bo on facts about the
road. Similarly, Head of Mon State Irrigation Department U Tint Hsan made
reports. Lt-Gen Maung Bo gave necessary instruction on upgrading of the
earthen road into tarred one by organizing the public. They arrived back in
Mawlamyine in the evening.
