Yangon, 2 April - Work coordination meeting of the working committees for upgrading, sanitation and beautifying of Yangon City was held at the meeting hall-4 of the City Hall at 3.30 pm today. Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe made a speech on the occasion.

Also present at the meeting were Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Mayor U Ko Lay, Deputy Minister for Mines U Myint Thein, Deputy Ministers for Rail Transportation Thura U Thaung Lwin and U Pe Than, Deputy Ministers for Transport Brig-Gen Kyaw Myint and U Pe Than, Vice-Chairman of YCDC Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, Vice-Quartermaster-General Maj-Gen Kyaw Win, military region commanders, members of YCDC, departmental heads and local authorities.

First, the commander explained the tasks to be carried out by ten working committees set up for smooth implementation of works by the State Peace and Development Council, upgrading phase-2 of Strand Road from Ywathitchaung Bridge to Nanataw traffic light into six-lane one, and tasks to be carried out with the coordinated efforts of working committees for the timely completion of works. Then, Mayor U Ko Lay reported on tasks for upgrading, sanitation and beautifying Yangon City being implemented by YCDC and government departments.

Then, the deputy ministers, the vice-mayor and officials reported on work done and future tasks of respective working committees.
