Construction of Thandaung hill station coordinated

 

YANGON, 29 Jan - Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt today attended the work coordination meeting of construction of Thandaung hill resort.

First, the minister said Committee for Construction of Thandaung Hill Station had been formed and duties had been assigned to the respective departments, and urged government departments and entrepreneurs to cooperate for the success of the tasks. Then, Secretary of the committee Director-General of the Development  Affairs Department Col Myo Myint reported on work done and future tasks.

 

Member of the committee Deputy Minister Brig- Gen Aung Thein and Brig-Gen Aye Myint Kyu discussed matters related to .broadcasting and reporting of salient points about the hill station on television and in newspapers for publicizing the task and giving licenses to the hoteliers respectively. Then. officials of the Forest Department, Myanma Electric Power Enterprise and Myanma Posts and Telecommunications reported on growing of trees power supply tasks and installationn auto-exchanges.

The hill station situated 4050feetabove the sea level and only 28 miles away from Toungoo. maintains the cold weather for the year long.  It is pleasant and only 5 hours drive from Yangon. Facilities required for the resort town are being .constructed at the hill station. Visiting the hill station, local and foreign tourists can enjoy the traditions of local national races there.
