Over US$ 23.3 million fetched
from sales of jade, gem and pearl

Yangon, 23 March -
Chairman of Central Committee for Holding the 40th Myanma Gems Emporium
Deputy Minister for Mines U Myint Thein viewed sale of pearl lots through
tender system and competitive bidding system being held at the Myanma Gems
Emporium Hall for the last day this morning. At the emporium, 16 lots of
pearl were sold for US$ 68,977 till noon.
Lots of jade, gem and pearl
were sold through tender system and competitive bidding system starting from
15 March up to date. The emporium fetched US$ 14.227093 million for 446 lots
of jade, US$ 7.578252 million for 48 lots of gems and US$ 68,977 for 16 lots
of pearl. Sale of jade figurines and gems and jewellery at fixed price
amounted to US$ 1.447080 million. The emporium fetched a total of US$
23.321402 million. The emporium concluded successfully.
A total of 1062 local and
foreign gem merchants- 622 from 246 firms of 18 foreign countries and 440
from 162 local firms bought the gems at the emporium.
