Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than inspects development in Thandaung, Toungoo Townships

YANGON, 12 May— Member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than of the Ministry of Defence, accompanied by Chairman of Bago Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Southern Command Maj-Gen Ko Ko and officials, cordially met with officers, other ranks and families of local battalions at Bayintnaung Station Hall in Thandaunggyi Hill Station, Thandaung Township, Kayin State, on 11 May morning.

In the hall of Thandaung Township Peace and Development Council, Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than heard reports on location and area of the township and agricultural products by Township Chairman U Myat Tun Oo and he gave instructions on extended cultivation of five crops.

On arrival at mile post No 11 on Toungoo-Leiktho-Yado road section on Toungoo-Leiktho-Yado-Loikaw Road, they inspected construction of the road section. Superintending Engineer U Tin Htut of Public Works and officials reported on progress of tasks. Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than gave necessary instructions maintenance of roods and inspected construction in progress.

In Leiktho Village, Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than explained carrying out of regional development. Next, he inspected the village and preparations for opening the multimedia teaching centre at Basic Education High School and attended to their needs.

At Leiktho Station Hospital, Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than and party inspected wards and the medical stores and fulfilled requirements.

They proceeded to Pathi Dam in Toungoo Township. At the briefing hall, Director U Aye Myint of Irrigation Department reported on matters related to the dam and supply of water for irrigation.

Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than and party inspected Pathi Dam by car.Afterwards, Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than and party proceeded to Kyauktaing Coffee Plantation of Myanma Agriculture Service.

He gave instructions on extended cultivation of coffee saplings and their distribution at reasonable prices.

There are over 300,000 coffee saplings as well as pepper and linzi mushroom in the plantation.
