Ayeyawady Division
enters new age of progress Pathein Bridge, 40th facility in the Division, opens
YANGON,
22 Nov — Pathein Bridge linking Mayanchaung and Kanni
villages across Ngawun River in Pathein Township,
Ayeyawady Division, was commissioned into service today.
Chairman
of Central Supervisory Committee for Smooth and Secure
Transport Secretary-1 of State Peace and Development
Council Lt-Gen Thein Sein attended the ceremony to mark
the opening of the facility, held at Mayanchaung
village.

22 Nov — The second session of the fourth day of the
Annual General Meeting (2004) of the Union Solidarity
and Development Association took place and concluded at
the Central Training School of the association in Hmawby
Township on 17 November. It was attended by USDA
Secretary-General U Htay Oo, secretariat members, CEC
members, secretaries of State and Division USDAs and
delegates from state, division, district and township
USDAs.

Transport Minister leaves for Cambodia to attend ASEAN
meetings
YANGON,
22 Nov — Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Thein Swe left
here by air this morning to attend the tenth ASEAN
Transport Ministers Meeting (10th ATM) and the second
ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting (2nd ATM+
Japan) which are to be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on
23 and 24 November. The minister was seen off at the
Yangon International Airport by Minister for Energy Maj-Gen
Lun Thi, Minister for Religious Affairs Thura U Myint
Maung, departmental heads and families of the
delegation.

inspects fish farms in Ayeyawady Division

22 Nov — Minister for Livestocks and Fisheries Brig-Gen
Maung Maung Thein together with directors of Fishery
Department inspected fish farms of Thazinyaykyaw in
Nyaungdon Township, Ayeyawady Division yesterday
morning.

Winners of Sarpay
Beikman Manuscript Award announced
YANGON,
22 Nov—The authorities concerned today announced winners
of Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award and prize-winning
manuscripts for 2003 Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award
Competition held by Printing and Publishing Enterprise
under the Ministry of Information.
In the
novel category, Aung Lin Latt (Okkala) stood first for
his novel “Ein-met-hla-hla-met-bar-zay”; Twingyitha Tin
Win Oo, second for his novel “Lin-let-kye-do-pyaw-ya-mye”;
and Aung Thu Rein (Pale), third for his novel “Pon-daung-tha-do-ei-gon-hsaung-dah”.

22 Nov — A ceremony to open Track and Field tournament
for Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army, Navy
and Air)in 2004 and present prizes to outstanding
athletes was held in Aung San Stadium today. Chairman of
Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander
of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe delivered an address
on the occasion and gave away prizes to winners.

22 Nov— The 11th Defence Services Commander-in-Chief’s
Shield Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) Cycling Race was
