Senior General Than Shwe sees off Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win on his
departure for 10th ASEAN Summit in Vientiane
YANGON, 27 Nov— At the invitation
of Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Mr Bounnhang Vorachith,
Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar Lt-Gen Soe Win left here by special
aircraft for Vientiane, Laos to attend the 10th ASEAN Summit, Cambodia, Laos,
Myanmar and Vietnam Summit, Summits of the ASEAN Heads of State/Government and
Heads of State/Government of the People’s Republic of China, Japan and the
Republic of Korea, ASEAN-India Summit and ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand
Commemorative Summit to be held in Vientiane, Laos from 28 to 30 November 2004.
The Myanmar delegation led by
Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win was seen off at Yangon International Airport by
Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of
Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe, Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and
Development Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services
Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Maung Aye, Member of the State
Peace and Development Council General Thura Shwe Mann, Secretary-1 of the State
Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thein Sein, members of the State Peace and
Development Council, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy), the Commander-in-Chief
(Air), the Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council the
Commander of Yangon Command, ministers, senior military officers, Charge
d’Affaires ai of the Laotian Embassy Mr Kobkeo Luangkhot and officials,
Director-General Lt-Col Pe Nyein of the State Peace and Development Council
Office and departmental heads.
The Prime Minister was
accompanied by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Thu, Director-General
U Soe Tint of the Prime Minister’s Office, Director-General U Myint Thein of
Pyithu Hluttaw Office, Director-General Thura U Aung Htet of the Protocol
Department, departmental heads and officials.
Minister for National Planning
and Economic Development U Soe Tha and Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win
left in advance for Vientiane, Laos, on 26 November to attend the Meetings of
the ASEAN Foreign Ministers and ASEAN Economic Ministers prior to the ASEAN
Summit.
