Minister attends ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting

YANGON, 27 Nov— Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Thein Swe left here by air on 22 November to attend the 10th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting and arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, at 6.45 pm local time.

The Minister was welcomed at Phnom Penh Airport by Deputy Minister for Transport Col Nyan Tun Aung who arrived there in advance to attend the same meeting and officials of the ASEAN Secretariat. On 23 November, Minister Maj-Gen Thein Swe, Deputy Minister Col Nyan Tun Aung and members of the Myanmar delegation attended the 10th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting at Intercontinental Hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. They also attended the Third ASEAN+China Transport Ministers’ Meeting and the Second ASEAN+Japan Transport Ministers’ Meeting on 24 November. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen delivered an opening address at the 10th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting. Next, Minister Maj-Gen Thein Swe delivered an address. At the meeting, the participants signed the Protocol to Implement the Fourth Package of Commitments on Air Transport Services under the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services. The Myanmar delegation led by Minister Maj-Gen Thein Swe returned home by air on 25 November night.
