YANGON, 2 April — Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win arrived by helicopter yesterday morning at the project site for construction of Yin Nyein Sluice Gate being implemented by the Construction-6 of the Irrigation Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation near Yin Nyein Creek near Kyonhtaw Village, Paung Township, Thaton District, Mon State. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for Mines Brig-Gen Ohn Myint, Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Minister for Science and Technology U Thaung, Minister for Education U Than Aung, Minister for Rail Transportation Maj-Gen Aung Min, Minister for Religious Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung, Deputy Minister for Health Dr Mya Oo, Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation U Ohn Myint, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office and departmental officials.


 

Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Thein Sein inspects harvesting of summer paddy sample plot at 1,000-acre summer paddy zone in Hlegu Township

YANGON, 2 April — The harvesting of sample plot of summer paddy and demonstration of technology for setting target paddy production were held at the 1,000-acre summer paddy zone near Malit Village in Hlegu Township this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thein Sein.

Development tasks in Kyaukgyi, Pyu inspected

YANGON, 2 April — Chairman of Bago Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Southern Command Maj-Gen Ko Ko inspected facilities of Mone Station Hospital in Kyaukgyi Township on 30 March. The commander viewed round Mone BEHS and gave necessary instructions to officials.

A Myanmar embassy staff in Washington absconds with family

YANGON, 2 April — U Aung Lin Htut, a retired major, attached to Myanmar Embassy in Washington, the USA, absconded with his wife Daw Tin Lay Nwe, one son and two daughters and a maid, in an act of betrayal to the State on 1 April 2005.

Rain in Kachin State, upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Divisions
