Yangon, 2 Feb — Member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Maung Bo of the Ministry of Defence, accompanied by Chairman of Mon State Peace and Development Council Commander of South-East Command Maj-Gen Thura Myint Aung, Chairman of Kayin State Peace and Development Council Col Khin Kyu and officials, on 30 January, arrived at Kamamaung jetty in Papun Township via Myainggyingu special region through Hpa-an Shwegun Road.

YANGON, 2 Feb —Supreme Commander of Royal Thai Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Thailand General Chaisit Shinawatra and party, accompanied by Maj-Gen Than Htay of the Ministry of Defence, Thai Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Suphot Dhira Kaosal, Military Attaché Col Prissapa Suvanatal and officials, visited Shwe-dagon Pagoda yesterday.

EP Minister inspects Yeywa Hydro-electric Power Project

YANGON, 2 Feb — Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut, accompanied by Director-General of the Hydro-electric Power Department U Win Kyaw and officials, arrived at Yeywa Hydel Electric Project site being implemented in Kyaukse Township, on 31 January and inspected fixing the valves at the diversion tunnel, constructing the foundation of the main dam, construction of the retaining walls, building the hydro-electric power plant and construction tasks of reinforced concrete mixer. The minister gave instructions on meeting the set standard, minimizing loss and wastage and proper use and maintenance of heavy machinery.

Minister for Information tours Gangaw Township

YANGON, 2 Feb — Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan gave a speech to over 1,800 rural people at Kan Village Basic Education High School in Gangaw Township on 26 January morning.

He accepted 300 USDA membership applications from Kan Village presented by the organizer. Next, he gave cash, gifts and textbooks stationery for Gangaw District and Township USDAs, Kan BEHS and other schools, libraries and local people. Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan inspected Kan Village Affiliated BEPS and Kan Station Hospital.
