of Yangon-Mandalay Highway in Meiktila and Mandalay Districts inspected

12 Jan—Member of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Ye Myint of the Ministry of Defence, accompanied
by Mandalay Division PDC Chairman Central Command
Commander Maj-Gen Ye Myint, Minister for Agriculture and
Irrigation Maj-Gen Htay Oo, and officials, yesterday
inspected progress of construction of Meiktila bypass
linking Kantaung village and Pyintha village on
Meiktila-Thazi Road.
In response to the report by
Director (Project) of Yuzana Highway Co Ltd U Aung Wan, Lt-Gen Ye Myint gave
instructions on timely completion of the project.

Minister looks into development tasks in Hpa-an
YANGON,
12 Jan — Minister for Progress of Border Areas and
National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt
arrived at Hpa-an yesterday and looked over tarring of
Anaw-rahta road being implemented by Hpa-an Township
Development Affairs Committee and the local people.
Commissioner of Kayin State U Maung Maung, Kayin State
DAC Director U Thet Hnin Oo and officials reported on
measures taken for tarring of the road. Regarding the
reports, the minister instructed the officials concerned
to make plan to upgrade the roads in the township. The
road is 1,800 feet long and 12 feet wide, which was
contributed by Kayin State DAC and local people.
