Algerian President
felicitates Senior General Than Shwe
YANGON,
19 Jan— The following is a message of felicitations from
Mr Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of the People’s
Democratic Republic of Algeria, to Senior General Than
Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development
Council of the Union of Myanmar, on the occasion of the
57th Anniversary Independence Day of the Union of
Myanmar.


Minister on
inspection tour of Maday, Khawa dams in Magway Div
YANGON,
19 Jan— Accompanied by officials concerned, Minister for
Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Htay Oo made an
inspection tour of Maday dam project built on Maday
creek near Kyoepin village, Kanma Township, Magway
Division on 16 January, where Director U Tin Maung Ohn
of Construction Group-2 of Irrigation Department
reported the minister on progress of constructing the
conduit of the main embankment.

40 wagons, related parts arrive from Korea

19 Jan — Minister for Rail Transportation Maj-Gen Aung
Min and Deputy Minister U Pe Than inspected unloading of
ten wagons and related parts for 30 wagons from Ducky
Shiny Vessel at Asia World Port, Ahlon Township this
evening.

Bands perform musical skills

19 Jan — The 14th Defence Services (Army, Navy and Air)
Military Band Competition in commemoration of the 60th
Anniversary Armed Forces Day (2005) continued at the
People’s Square, here, this morning.
Before the competition,
student bands of Yankin Education College Practising
Middle School and Botahtaung Basic Education High School
No 4 presented skills demonstration to the enthusiasts.
