Textile and dyeing and printing factory opens in Yamethin

YANGON, 25 Jan — The textile and
dyeing and printing factory of Myanma Textile Industries of the Ministry of
Industry-1 was opened at the factory in Yamethin Township this morning, attended
by member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Ye Myint of the
Ministry of Defence.
The textile and dyeing and
printing factory built on the plot of 26.48 acres is situated by Yangon-Mandalay
Road, five miles north of Yamethin Township.
Also present were Chairman of
Mandalay Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen
Ye Myint, Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung, Yamethin Station Commander
Brig-Gen Hla Myint, officials of the ministry, Chairman of Yamethin District
Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Aung Kyi Shein, members of District and
Township Peace and Development Councils, members of the Union Solidarity and
Development Association, members of Women’s Affairs Committee, Maternal and
Child Welfare Association, Red Cross and Fire Brigade, local people and members
of royal drum troupe totalling 3,000.
Lt-Gen Ye Myint, Maj-Gen Ye Myint,
Minister U Aung Thaung and departmental officials took the designated place and
Managing Director of MTI U Oo Thein Maung and Chairman of Yamethin District PDC
Lt-Col Aung Kyi Shein formally opened the factory.
Next, Lt-Gen Ye Myint formally
unveiled the signboard of the factory and visited the factory. Lt-Gen Ye Myint
and party inspected machines and 400 looms.
Managing Director of MTI U Oo
Thein Maung reported on detailed facts of the factory. He presented K 50,000
each for Township USDA, Township MCWA and Township Women’s Affairs Committee to
officials concerned.
Twenty four machines were
installed at the factory which is capable of producing various kinds of fabric.
Construction of dyeing and
printing factory began on 22 October 2001 and the 400-loom factory on 30 May
2003.
Lt-Gen Ye Myint and party later
visited the soap factory (Yamethin) and they inspected production of Carbolic,
Sunlight and Hmwe soaps.
The factory lies at Shweda
Village near Yangon-Mandalay Road in Yamethin Township and it produces 40 tons
of soap a day and it can also produce 13,200 tons of washing soap and 1,900 tons
of toilet soap a year.
