Senior General Than Shwe receives Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker

YANGON, 3 March — Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe received Speaker of Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Mr W J M Lokubandara and party at Credentials Hall of the Pyithu Hluttaw Building at 10 am today.

Myanmar dismisses US issue on violation of human rights

YANGON, 3 March—The State Peace and Development Council has appointed Officer on Special Duty Lt-Col Myo Kyaw at the Ministry of Religious Affairs as director-general of Department for Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana of the same ministry on probation from the date he assumes charge of his duties.

Matriculation exam identity cards to be drawn beginning 8 March

YANGON, 3 March — The identity cards and roll numbers for the students who are going to sit for the matriculation examination to be held from 16 to 26 March at examination centres in States and Divisions have already been sent to the respective examination centre supervisors, and students are to draw their identity cards from the examination centre supervisors as of 8 March 2005. The roll numbers and examination centres for the students who are in townships of Yangon municipal area will be posted at the respective Township Education Officer’s Offices beginning 9 March 2005.

Exam centres for in-patient students

YANGON, 3 March — With the aim of enabling the students who are undergoing medical treatment to sit for the matriculation examination, arrangements have been made for opening three examination centres at Yangon General Hospital, the Central Women’s Hospital and the Webagi Special Hospital.
