Senior General Than Shwe accepts credentials of Ambassador of Mexico

YANGON, 4 March — Mr Andres Carral Cuevas, newly accredited Ambassador of Mexico to the Union of Myanmar, presented his credentials to Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar, at Zeyathiri Beikmanon on Konmyinttha here, at 10 am today.

Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than on inspection tour of Thayawady District in Bago Division (West)

YANGON, 4 March — Member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than of the Minister of Defence, accompanied by departmental officials, left here by car on 3 March morning and arrived at Meeninchaung Creek Bridge where he was welcomed by Chairman of Bago Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Southern Command Maj-Gen Ko Ko, Chairman of Bago Division (West) Peace and Development Council Brig-Gen Hla Min and departmental officials.

Legislative power to enact laws for reclamation of vacant, fallow and virgin lands should be entrusted to the Union

YANGON, 4 March — The following is the full clarification of Secretary of the National Convention Convening Work Committee U Thaung Nyunt, on behalf of the Work Committee Chairman, concerning the agriculture and livestock breeding sector and the energy, electricity, mining and forestry sector for laying down of detailed basic principles for sharing of legislative power to be included in the State Constitution, at Pyidaungsu Hall of Nyaunghnapin Camp in Hmawby Township, yesterday.


Most of the delegate groups suggested that a detailed basic principle be laid down in the Union Legislative List as third point ‘standardization and specification of manufactured commodities’
