Senior General Than
Shwe sends message of sympathy to Indonesian President
YANGON,
29 March — Messages of sympathy have been sent from
Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of
the Union of Myanmar Senior General Than Shwe to
President of Indonesia Dr H Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono,
from Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development
Council of the Union of Myanmar Vice-Senior General
Maung Aye to Vice President of Indonesia Mr Jusuf Kalla,
from Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar Lt-Gen Soe
Win to President of Indonesia Dr H Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono and from Minister for Foreign Affairs of the
Union of Myanmar, U Nyan Win to Foreign Minister of
Indonesia Dr N Hassan Wirajuda for the extensive loss of
life and property suffered by Indonesia as a result of
the powerful earthquake that occurred off the coast of
Sumatra, Indonesia on 28 March 2005.

Action to be taken
against persons who still own unlicensed car after the last date 31.3.2005
YANGON,
29 March — At the Press Conference held on 9 November
2004, the director-general of Myanmar Police Force had
already explained that all cars can be used only if that
are licensed according to the existing law of the State;
that the Government is impounding the unlicensed cars;
that only the vehicle will be confiscated, without
taking any action against the owner and the driver and
without asking them about the seller of the car and the
means they had used in obtaining the car; that the best
way for the owner of a unlicensed car is to hand it over
to the nearest police station.

Curriculum Vitae of
His Excellency Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore
His
Excellency Mr Lee Hsien Loong was born on 10 February
1952. He was educated in Nanyang Primary School,
Catholic High School and National Junior College. He was
graduated in 1974 with First Class Honours in
Mathematics and a Diploma in Computer Science from the
University of Cambridge of the United Kingdom. He also
obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from
Harvard University of America in 1980.

29 March—The opening of organizational course (basic) No
22, computer course (basic) No 20 and first national
culture and morals course took place at Dagon Myothit
(East) Union Solidarity and Development Association
Office this morning.

Monsee TV retransmission station airs programmes
YANGON,
29 March — Under the TV retransmission programme, TV
relay stations are being built one after another. And
construction of a TV retransmission station was
completed in Monsee, Shan State on 23 March. Programmes
of Myanma Television have been on the air beginning 24
March, it is learnt.

30 March — The Sixtieth Anniversary Armed Forces Day was
observed at the parade ground of Northern Command on 27
March. Present on the occasion were Kachin State Peace
and Development Council Chairman Northern Command
Commander Maj-Gen Maung Maung Swe and wife, Deputy
Commander Brig-Gen San Tun, Commanding Officer of
Myitkyina Air Base Headquarters Brig-Gen Zaw Tun, senior
