World Stop TB Day observed in Yangon Division

YANGON, 26 March — Organized by Yangon Division Health Committee, the ceremony to mark the Yangon Division World Stop TB Day was held at the hall of Institute of Nursing on Bogyoke Aung San Street, here, this morning, attended by Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe and Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Mayor Brig-Gen Aung Thein Lin.

First, the commander gave an opening address. Head of Yangon Division Health Department Dr Hla Myint read out the message of the Minister for Health.

The commander presented best DOTS provider award to South Okkalapa Township. Daw Khin Thet Htay presented prizes to the winners in the general knowledge contest to mark the World Stop TB Day.

Later, the commander, the mayor and party enjoyed the brief DOTS drama play. They also viewed documentary photos of TB control and booths. Later, the commander and wife provided TB medicines to the patients.

Also present on the occasion were Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for Yangon Division Maternal and Child Welfare Association Daw Khin Thet Htay, Deputy Director-General of Health Department Dr Ye Myint, No 2 Military Region Commander Col Tun Kyi, local authorities, departmental officials and members of the social organizations.
