Production sharing contracts signed

YANGON, 8 May — A ceremony to sign production sharing contracts by Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise under the Ministry of Energy and Essar Oil Limited of India for exploration and production of oil and natural gas at Rakhine Offshore Block A-2 and Rakhine Coastal Region Block L (Sittway) was held at the Sedona Hotel here yesterday evening.

Lt-Gen Maung Bo inspects development undertakings in Mon, Kayin States

YANGON, 8 May— Member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Maung Bo of the Ministry of Defence together with departmental officials, on 6 May, arrived at Sittoung Bridge at the border of Bago Division and Mon State. They were welcomed there by Chairman of Mon State PDC Commander of South-East Command Maj-Gen Thura Myint Aung and officials.

World Red Cross Day 2005 observed

YANGON, 8 May — The World Red Cross Day 2005 was observed at the meeting hall of Institute of Nursing (Yangon) on Bogyoke Aung San Street, here this morning.

Minister for Health Dr Kyaw Myint delivered an address, saying that as a gesture of honouring Henry Dunant, who initiated Red Cross humanitarian activities, his birth day was designated as World Red Cross Day. It is also the day, on which the volunteers all over the world are honoured for their noble minds and services.

YANGON, 8 May — Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Mr Lee Ju-Heum and Commercial Attaché Mr Choi Yong-tai and First Secretary Mr Hong Sung Wook met with UMFCCI President U Win Myint, General Secretary U Sein Win Hlaing and Joint-Secretary-2 U Tun Aung at UMFCCI on 5 May evening.

Industry-2 Minister leaves for China

YANGON, 8 May — At the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, a five-member delegation led by Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin left here by air for China this afternoon to discuss cooperation in industrial sector between the two countries and to study industries in China.
