Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Thein Sein attends consecration ceremony of Maha Dhammikayon
Pariyatti Sarthintaik (Kyaikpi Kyaung) Maha Vijayakari five-storey Beikmandawgyi

YANGON, 15 May— The consecration ceremony of Maha Dhammikayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik (Kyaikpi Kyaung) Maha Vijayakari five-storey Beikman-dawgyi on Maha Bawdi road in Ward-14, Yankin Township, Yangon East District took place at the Sarthintaik this morning. Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thein Sein attended the ceremony and offered provisions to members of the Sangha.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of members of the Sangha led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Sadhammajotika Magway Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kumara, Vice-Chairman Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha-Sadhammajotika-dhaja Presiding Sayadaw of Maha Dhammikayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik (Kyaikpi Kyaung) Bhaddanta Gunesana and Secretary Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Nyaungdon Sayadaw Bhaddanta Osadhabhivamsa. Also present were Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe, ministers, deputy ministers, senior military officers, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, departmental heads, Chairman of Yangon East District Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Maung Maung Shein and chairmen and members of district and township PDCs, members of social organizations, religious associations, wellwishers and disciples.

First, the ceremony to open Maha Dhammi-kayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik (Kyaikpi Kyaung) Maha Vijayakari five-storey Beikman-dawgyi was held. At the auspicious time, the Secretary-1 pressed the button to open the Beikmandawgyi.

This was followed by the consecration ceremony of the Beikmandawgyi. The ceremony was opened with three-time recitation of Namo Tassa. Vocalist Yi Yi Thant sang Htuma-chana song.

Next, Magway Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kumara invested the congregation with the Five Precepts. Afterwards, members of the Sangha recited Parittas.

The Secretary-1 offered alms to Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha-Sadhammajotika Magway Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kumara.

Commander Maj-Gen Myint Swe offered provisions to Secretary Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Nyaungdon Sayadaw Bhaddanta Osadhabhivamsa and ministers, deputy ministers and departmental heads to Vice-Chairman Sayadaw Bhaddanta Gunesana and members of the Sangha.

Next, vocalists Yi Yi Thant and actor Mandalay Thein Zaw sang religious songs.

The third ceremony to donate cash for Maha Vijayakari five-storey Beikmandawgyi was held. Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Thein Sein accepted K 7,005,000 donated by Captain Htin Kyaw-Daw Kyi Mya and family, K 2,512,000 by U Hla Aung-Daw Pyaw and family, K 2.2 million by Captain Maung Ohn-Daw Sanda Oo and family, K 1,688,300 by families of Bogyoke Aung San Market, K 1.5 million by U Francis-Daw Saw Mi Mi Kyaw and K 1,130,000 by U San Tin-Daw Hla May and family and gave certificates of honour to the donors.

Commander Maj-Gen Myint Swe accepted K 1,010,000 donated by U Than Htut-Daw Cho Cho and family, K 1,010,000 by U Myint Swe-Daw Khin Oo Kyaw and family, K 700,000 by U Mya-Daw Tin Tin Ohn and family, K 650,000 by U Thaung Pe-Daw Kyi Ngwe and family, K 600,000 by U Myint Oo-Daw Khin Win Kyi and K 500,000 by Daw Khin Yi and presented certificates of honour to the donors.

Next, Vice-Chairman Sayadaw Bhaddanta Gunesana delivered a sermon followed by sharing of merits gained.

The ceremony concluded with three-time recitation of Buddha Sasanam Ciram Titthatu.

To mark the success of the ceremony, Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Thein Sein performed the rituals of golden and silver showers.
