Oath of the Bureau of Special Investigation
.... In line with the appendix table number Two of the 1951 , Bureau of Special Investigation Administrative Board and the Bureau of Special Investigation Act , the chairman and members of the board took the oath and it is as follow; -
.... '' I , --------------------- , shall perform duties to the best of my ability with honesty, integrity and righteousness, without bias for or against anyone in any station of life, without any unfairness due to one's own wish, anger or fear. Furthermore , I shall always safeguard and uphold the constitution of the Union of Myanmar. So I solemnly take the oath ''.
The officers of the Bureau of Special Investigation take the oath as follows;-
.... '' I have already read the section (17) of the 1951, Special Investigation Administrative Board and Bureau of Special Investigation Act and I have been appointed as an officer of the Bureau by the said law. I shall always safeguard and uphold the constitution and the laws of the Union of Myanmar. Furthermore I shall strive to the best of my ability with honesty , integrity and righteousness, without bias for or against anyone in any station of life, without any unfairness due to one's own wish, anger or fear, to fully discharge the responsibilities bestowed by the state in accord with powers and responsibilities entrusted to me by law. So I solemnly take the oath".
Code of conduct of BSI and its old motto
The old motto of the Bureau of Special Investigation is :- "Thitsan(loyalty), Dhammao(Justice), Dhiti (Steadfastness), Sagao(Bravery), Zayao (Victory)
Thitsan - I shall abide by my oaths and carry out duties righteously.
Dhammao- I shall perform duties in the just and right way.
Dhiti- I shall do what is right steadfastly without wavering or hesitating.
Sargao- I shall strive for general weal boldly without any thought for personal     interest.
Zayao- May there be success as I proceed thus righteously.
The code of conduct for the officers are : -
I shall always conduct myself in thought, speech and behaviour in accord with     the Bureau's motto: Thitsan, Dhammao,Dhiti, Sargao, Zayao. I shall always be polite and humble in dealings with the public.
I shall always bear in mind and uphold the vows and the oaths .
May truth protect us, so that we may serve the interest of the union all the more.
Powers and authority of the Bureau
.... The Bureau of Special Investigation has powers and authority to investigate offence committed under the existing laws including economic crimes as well as all offences conducted by the police officers through out the country.
Duties of the Bureau
Duties of the Bureau of Special Investigation are as follows:-
To protect our best to achieve the success of the state economic policies.
To protect ,Investigate and take legal actions against theft,     misappropriation,fraud, unauthorized possession, and mischief of the national and     public properties.
To ensure absence of bribery and corruptions and steadfastness of moral among     service personnels.
To protect, investigation and take, legal actions againsts economic malpractices     such as illegal import and export of goods, exchange of foreign currencies,earning     by any other illegal ways and instabilities of the prices of goods.
Three Objectives of Investigation
To find out the truth and take legal and departmental action against the person who committed the crime.
To recover the criminal assets and money.
Activities of the Bureau of Special Investigation
To discover the root of the crime and to eliminate it not to occur again in the future.
     The Bureau of Special Investigation performs the administrative affairs, affairs of the services personnels as well as the financial and budget affairs like other departments. And so, as the main duty, the Bureau also carries out to prosecute the offenders to the respective courts.

     The Bureau of Special Investigation has been discharging its duties as a law enforcement body under the Ministry of Home Affairs, mainly the duty to deal with economic crimes and malpractices of public service personnel. It has been active in the mutual relation with other organizations internal as well as abroad. It becomes more extensive during recent few years in relation with foreign assignments; attending trainings, meetings, conferences, hosting a delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

     Officials from the Bureau of Special Investigation have been playing active role in various international as well as national workshops and seminars on Human Rights, Children Rights, Cyber Laws, Women's Human Rights, Mutual Legal Assistance, Capacity Enhancement of Myanmar Civil Service, National Certification Authority and control of money laundering laws. From the year 2000 to 2004, ten basic level workshops on Human Rights, one advanced level workshop on Human Rights, four seminars on the Rights of the Child, one workshop on Cyber Laws, one workshop on the Rights of the Women, two workshops on Mutual Legal Assistance one workshop on Capacity Enhancement of Myanmar Civil Service, one workshop on National Certification Authority and two workshops on Control of Money Laudering Laws were held in Myanmar and one Director, five Deputy Directors, fifteen Assistant Directors, thirteen Staff officers(Investigation), two Investigators, one Deputy Investigator participated the workshops and seminars.
Objectives of the Bureau
.... The Bureau of Special Investigation is one of the Four organs under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Bureau was founded under the 1951, Special Investigation Administrative Board and the Bureau of Special Investigation Act.
