Livestock breeding of pedigree stock, cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, pig, and poultry etc., form an integral part of the rural economy. Ownership of livestock is characterized by small individual herds and flocks. For the development of the cattle industry, vast pasturelands with suitable climate are available in different regions.
