By Minh Zaw
AN exhibition featuring the achievements of a four-year national education promotion plan launched in 2000-2001 opened at the Diamond Jubilee Hall on Pyay Road on May 4.

The opening ceremony for the event was attended by the Prime Minister, General Khin Nyunt, the Secretary 1 of the State Peace and Development Council, Lieutenant-General Soe Win, ministers, ambassadors, university rectors, teachers and students.

The four-day exhibition included more than 30 booths devoted to activities carried out under the plan, aimed at promoting development in the education sector.
The booths are on the three floors of the hall.

The ground floor displays included teachers’ guides, painting demonstrations, musical performances, examples of chemical experiments and information about industrial training for vocational students. The second floor displays concentrated on the role played by information and communications technology in education.

Higher education was also featured. On the third floor there were displays from the research department of Yangon University, the Myanmar Academy of Art and Science, the Life Long Learning Society, and the New Century Resource Centre among others.
