International school opens

By Thi Ha Zaw

A NEW international school that will cater for children aged from three to 10 was opened in Yangon on August 11.

Myanmar International Educational Services, which is located on Pyay Road in Hlaing township, can accommodate up to 150 students and has a staff of 22 teachers, incuding four expatriates.

MIES principal Mr David Schaefer, who resigned as head of the board at the Yangon International Educare Centre less than six months ago, said the school was designed to provide children with an international standard of education.

“In our school we want children to be creative and to think for themselves. We want the students to be involved in their lessons,” Mr Schaefer said.

The school plans to apply for international accreditation within the next few years.
