MYANMAR needs to be prepared to minimise any negative pricing effects involving pharmaceuticals when it implements international agreements on trade related intellectual property rights (TRIPS), a workshop in Yangon has been told.

 

Dr Daw Khin Thet Myaing, the Yangon divisional officer of the ministry’s Maternal and Child Health Section, was speaking to Myanmar Times at the sideline of a training workshop on Adolescent Reproductive Health and Post Abortion Care, held August 2-6 at the ministry’s training centre in Dagon township.

A WORKSHOP was held in late July to discuss community-based strategies for minimising the health risks associated with arsenic-tainted drinking water.The meeting was held at the National Health Museum in Sanchaung township, Yangon, on July 20.
THE United Nations Children’s Fund in Myanmar is planning to conduct an assessment of street and working children with the cooperation of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and the Ministry of Labour, said an official from the UN agency.

EFFORTS to preserve the endangered Ayeyarwaddy dolphin can be aided by bringing tourists to upper Myanmar to witness the rare cooperative relationship between the freshwater mammals and fisherman, said a freelance marine biologist.

 

“The Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Goh Chok Tong, asked that the car rally end in his country, so we forwarded this request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in India, which agreed to extend the length,” said Mr Rajive Kaul, a past-president of sponsoring Confederation of Indian Industry.

 

“Album producers once relied on journals and television to advertise their releases, but they have come to use temporary billboards as an important medium,” said Ko Soe Wai Phyo, the marketing assistant at the Zomia Media Company, Ltd., advertising agency.

 
 

THE fifth annual Malaysian International Food and Beverage Trade Fair 2004 and the Malaysian International Halal Food Conference were held in Kuala Lumpur last month and businesses world wide were invited to attend, including the Kyet Shar Soon food centre from Myanmar.

 

Reverend Babson is from Maine and is working towards a doctorate in Ministry from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington.
