Teachers graduate

By Minh Zaw

THE principal of Yankin Education College, U Mai Aung, has told 800 graduating primary teachers that education played an essential role in the nation’s development.

He was speaking at a ceremony at the college on February 15 at which the graduates received their diplomas after completing a two-year course.

U Mai Aung said the graduates had been equipped with the skills necessary to be effective teachers.

Changes in the course over the past seven years meant that the graduates would have the ability to help pupils to better develop their thinking skills, he said. The graduates will be assigned to Basic Primary Schools throughout the country.

The course is open to those aged under 25 who have completed their matriculation.

About 6000 primary teachers have graduated from the college in the past seven years.
