Scenic beauty brings movie alive

By Moe Moe Oo

La Yaung Nan Tae Alwan Thit Pin (A tree of remembrance settled by moonlight) directed by Sin Yaw Mg Mg will be released in March. It is an English speaking DVD starring Myanmar actress, Htun Eaindra Bo and Japan’s Machita Nagatsuka making his film debut.

The English speaking DVD with Myanmar subtitles was shot in famous places in Japan like Mount Fuji, Kamakura and Yokohama. Director Sin Yaw Mg Mg said they had a contest on the internet to find the actor to play the leading role.

The winner, Machita Nagatsuka, had never been in a movie, although he had some stage experience.

The story, scripted by Min Khike Soe San, is based on the English movie The Princess and the Photographer.

Htun Eaindra Bo plays a young singer/actress Kye Sin Lin Cho who will not give up her career even though her father U Kyaw Zaw played by Nyunt Win has forbidden her to pursue it. When Kye Sin Lin Cho asks for her father’s permission to go to Japan for performance, her father makes her promise to give up acting once she returns from the trip. She makes the deal but secretly she’s determined to go her own way when she returns. Her father knows what she is planning, so he sends someone to watch her. When Kye Sin finds out she is being followed, she is furious.

Then she meets photographer Otakasan (Machita Nagatsuka) who helps her and becomes her friend. After difficult times, Otakasan falls in love with Kye Sin but the Japanese performance is finished and the day to go back to Myanmar has arrived for Kye Sin and ……….. you’ll have to watch it to find out.

The story reveals the misunderstandings which can occur between parents and children. The beauty of the scenery makes it come alive. Both the leading actors give good performances making this DVD well worth seeing.
