Win Pe Myint

WELL-known artist Win Pe Myint (WPM) had opened his new studio at his house in Hlaing Thar Yar township last month.Many of his friends, artists, journalists and gallery owners came to the opening and a smiling U Win Pe Myint couldn’t hide his happiness.

 
WATCHING the sun set fierily over Inya Lake from the manicured green lawns of the Dusit Inya Lake hotel, with wine bottles from all over the world lined up in serried ranks on crisp white tablecloths – what more idyllic setting could there be for an early evening gathering?
 
La Yaung Nan Tae Alwan Thit Pin (A tree of remembrance settled by moonlight) directed by Sin Yaw Mg Mg will be released in March. It is an English speaking DVD starring Myanmar actress, Htun Eaindra Bo and Japan’s Machita Nagatsuka making his film debut.
 
 
     

I NEVER liked babies and small children. I always avoided them if I could because I’m not patient and I don’t enjoy them. Unlike many girls I didn’t want to hold babies or play with little children, I hated the sound of their crying and I always thought that when I married I wouldn’t have any children.

 

He invited the audience, “I wanna sing with you and why don’t you stand up and dance to my song?” but the Myanmar audience, although enthusiastic, stayed in their seats and applauded. The melodies and his energetic performance made me want to dance, and the Europeans in the audience didn’t resist the urge.

 

“We are presenting the concert after the matriculation examination so that the students can relax and have fun after their long study,” said Ma Mee Mee from promoter Shin Mee Entertainment at a press launch on March 2.

 

Ko Aung Zaw (played by Dwe) and Thandar Aung (played by Tint Tint Tun) agree to get a divorce after seven years of marriage because they cannot agree. Zaw wants to move to Yangon to start a business and his wife wants to remain in Mandalay. So Ko Aung Zaw leaves his wife and Mandalay to follow his dream of setting up a computer training centre in Yangon.

 

According to the 2005 Yangon directory there are more than 300 slipper shops in this city alone, most of which make the shoes themselves in small workshops attached to the shop where they are sold. There are two main kinds of slippers which are widely worn - those made with velvet straps and those made with leather.

 
 

Art Shows
