A MYANMAR company this month introduced the first readymade school
uniforms for girls to be produced in the country, in time for
the start of the new academic year in June.
He and She fashion has begun manufacturing readymade versions
of the traditional green longyis and white blouses, the latter
in two designs – short sleeved and long sleeved.
“I introduced the readymade school uniforms (for girls)
because I sympathise with parents who have to spend not only money
but a lot of time finding outfits for their children,” said
Daw Myat San Win, a director of the company.
“We make uniforms for girls in fifth through 10th standards,”
she said.
Daw Myat San Win said the company will manufacture 6000 uniform
sets in its first phase of production, in six different sizes.
“The price is fair – only K3000 for a blouse and
longyi set,” she said.
Daw Myat San Win said her company has sold the clothes –
which have been available on the market since the beginning of
May – to retailers both on consignment and using a credit
system.
The U Lay Gyi shop in Bogyoke Aung San Market in Yangon also
produces readymade school uniforms, for boys in preschool through
10th standard.
