THE Myanmar Fisheries Federation is due to take over the chairmanship
of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Fisheries Federation
next year, an MFF official said last week.
The MFF’s vice president (2), U Han Tun, said it had been
invited to assume the role by the current chair, Thailand’s
fisheries federation.
Taking over the chairmanship would assist the development of
the Myanmar fisheries sector, U Han Tun said. fishery entrepreneurs
would be able to share knowledge and information with the ASEAN
counterparts.
The Myanmar Fisheries Federation was established in 1998 and
became a member of the AFF in 2002.
