Ladies to rock Mandalay

FOLLOWING the success of the first all-female rock concert in Yangon last month, the ladies are now set to rock Mandalay.

The concert will be held at the Swan Hotel from 6 to 10pm on July 23.
The event is organized by senior singer Lily Naing Kyaw, who was also behind the Yangon concert.

The earlier show featured Connie, Thiri J Maung Maung, She, Tin Zar Maw, Sung Tin Par, Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein, Twinkle, Girl Lay and Lily Naing Kyaw.

The line-up is almost the same for the Mandalay concert, with the exception of newcomer to the rock scene Girl Lay who will not perform this time around.

Lily Naing Kyaw said the Mandalay concert is set to rock even harder and longer, “In Yangon, we did not have long to perform. But in Mandalay, we will have a much longer time to entertain our fans.”

Tickets for the Mandalay concert are K10000, double that charged for the Yangon event.

But Lily Naing Kyaw said she hoped fans would not be disappointed, “I hope the audience will be satisfied with our performance, as we will sing many songs.”

Lily Naing Kyaw said the concert was mostly targeted at women and girls and security would be high at the event.

The Yangon all-female rock concert in June was the first large public event in the city after the May 7 bombings. It was instrumental in encouraging other producers and singers to again hold live shows in Yangon.
