TEN competitors, out of 62, went through to the final round of
the singing contest held at International Business Centre in Kamayut
township on July 11.
The contest was organised by Laser Land Company, which presents
the weekly New Age Program on the City FM Radio Station. Laser
Tooth Paste was a sponsor.
Popular three girl-group No introduced the competitors.
All 10 girls vying for the prize sang the pop song Achit Ne Guitar
(Love and guitar) by well-known singer Tin Zar Maw.
Judging the contest were retired singer L Khun Yee, songwriter
Min Chit Thu, editor of Shwe Amu Te magazine U Win Nyein and Tin
Zar Maw.
All 10 girls managed to hit the right notes – in fact, there
was not much that separated them.
Tin Zar Maw said she was impressed by the level of talent on
show. “I like all of them and so I don’t know who
I will give top marks to.”
The 10 finalists were chosen based on voice tests held at the
City FM Studio on July 5.
Three participants will be awarded prizes by singer Tin Zar Maw
and the sponsor company, Laser Tooth Paste. There is also the
possibility that one or more of the three winners will be chosen
to have a record produced.
City FM adviser and audio engineer, U Kyi Min Thein, said the
station organised the competition to uncover new talent.
He said the winners will be announced on City FM before the end
of the month: “We will broadcast a 30-minute- long program
in which each of the finalists will sing and then we will announce
the winner.”
