What are Myanmar’s favourite celebs up to?

• By Moe Moe Oo

ARE you curious about the upcoming projects of your favourite celebrities?
Well if you are, and who is not, here is what some of them are working on.

Rock legend Lay Phyu is currently working on two albums. One, a cooperation with Myo Gyi and Ange, will be similar to theit previous release, Yar Zu Thit (New Century). A solo album featuring his own compositions is also in the works. His last release was February’s “Mummies”, a collection of old hits.

Pop singer Sithu Lwin is almost out of touch with his fans, having not released an album for three years and only occasionally performing live. He is still working on his sixth solo album. Some of the songs from this album – which we all hope will be released soon – were performed at Corney’s live show on July 9. He is a little busy currently decorating his house, so fans may be waiting a little longer, he told The Myanmar Times.

Phyo Gyi

Following the massive success of his debut album, singer Phyo Gyi has been quiet for a long time. He is putting all his effort into his second solo album, he told The Myanmar Times, which is due for release in early 2006. A completed album with R Zarni and Sung Tin Par should be released soon.

Model and actress Su Shwun Lei keeps busy. She has filmed two TV commercials which have not aired yet. A VCD co-starring Wai Lu Kyaw is her latest project. She will co-star with Kyaw Thu and Wai Lu Kyaw once again in a short film honoring Myanmar’s police service.

A VCD, Nay Yar Chin Tot Lei Like Chin (I wish we could change our roles), is the latest project for actor Nine Nine, costarring May Than Nu and Thet Mon Myint. Three upcoming short films will see him travel to Pyin Oo Lwin in July.
