MYANMAR and its partners in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations marked the 38th anniversary of the grouping’s foundation on August 8 by reiterating the importance of establishing an ASEAN Community.

 

THE Thai Foreign Minister, Mr Kantathi Suphamongkhon, is due to visit Myanmar later this month, as a part of series of trips to fellow members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

A “positive trend” which has developed in relations between Myanmar and India in the past few years has served the interests of both countries, said the outgoing Indian ambassador, Mr Rajiv Bhatia.
 
THE head of World Food Program, Mr James Morris, has appealed to the international community to provide more assistance to the United Nations agency’s relief efforts in Myanmar.

THE Myanmar Football Federation has decided to allow domestic clubs to include foreign players in their teams. “We will warmly accept proposals from the clubs for the transfers of foreign players,” said the federation’s president, U Zaw Zaw.

 

A SENIOR government official and a retired forestry officer have become the first Myanmar to receive conservation awards from a foundation in the United States.

 

MYANMAR had an opportunity to display its traditional cultural performing arts to the world when it participated in the first International Young People’s Muse Festival held in South Korea late last month.
