Beauty tips from Singaporean expert

Regional training manager for Shiseido from Singapore, Angela Boh, visited Shiseido’s Myanmar branch in Yangon last week. Zo Puii asked her to share some of her beauty tips.

Angela Boh

How long have you worked in the cosmetics field?

I have worked for Shiseido 13 years already. I started working in the cosmetics industry at the age of 20. I love to make people beautiful. I wanted to work with cosmetics because I think makeup application is an art, it has the power to both transform and enhance a person’s look. I also decided to take courses in beauty therapy to gain a better understanding of how to make women look more beautiful.

How important is good skin care?

It is the most important thing for any woman at any age. Many women think makeup is more important than skin care. But having good skin is very important as it forms the foundation for makeup. If you have bad skin, no amount of makeup is going to hide it. On good skin just a little makeup looks fabulous. When we are young there is no need to use a lot of products. Just the basics - cleanser, toner and moisturizer - are enough.

When is the best time to start using anti-aging treatments?

We should start using products that prevent wrinkles once we reach 30. Prevention is better than a cure. Sometimes it is not necessary to use an anti-ageing product, a special care product can be enough.
Anti-wrinkle creams should definitely be used by the time we are in our 40s though. But lifestyle is important too. A stressful lifestyle and constant exposure to UV rays will definitely speed up ageing. It is important to protect skin from UV rays regardless of age.

How do you maintain your skin?

I ensure that I never skip my basic routine which is to use cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Now that I’m in my 30s, I’ve started to use an anti-ageing cream as a preventative measure. I also always ensure that I have my foundation with sunscreen in it on whenever I go outside to protect my skin from UV rays.
