SEDONA Hotel was the place to see and be seen on the evening
of December 2, as the cream of Yangon’s celebrity crop gathered
in their colourful outfits and glittering jewellery.
By 7 pm more than 500 guests had passed through the dimly lit
entrance tunnel and emerged poolside to celebrate Five Fs Night,
the five Fs standing for Fun, Fabulous, Famous, Fashion on Friday.
As the name indicated, this was a fashion show that was more
than just a fashion show. Arranged by famous actress Eaindra Kyaw
Zin in cooperation with singer Ma Ma, the event also included
dinner and a music concert.
Despite the high price of attendance – K30,000 –
not only were all the tickets sold out but more seats were added
due to the high demand, as fashion lovers of all ages came flocking.
Perhaps only Eaindra Kyaw Zin herself was capable of creating
such a buzz. She is well known among Myanmar movie audiences not
only for her beauty and her acting talent, but also for her sense
of fashion and style.
Among the other actors in attendance were Mya Shwe Wah, Yamin
Muyar Zaw and Khin Yadanar, while Ei Cho Lwin, Htet Htet Wint,
and Melody were among the 10 models who contributed their talents
to the fashion show.
The model’s outfits were provided by Vivid Fashion Taste,
a shop owned by Eaindra Kyaw Zin’s sister, and by designer
Pyi Soe Aung.
The festivities kicked off with poolside models sporting beachwear
and putting on a cheerful mermaid act to the lively beat of a
DJ.
The master of ceremonies, comedian Ah Yaing, kept things going
with some jokes before introducing Eaindra Kyaw Zin, who drew
a big round of applause as she took the stage in a pink and purple
outfit.
The big event of the night was the fashion show sponsored by
Alpine Purified Drinking Water and featuring gorgeous evening
dresses designed by Pyi Soe Aung.
Eaindra Kyaw Zin also took the stage in a blue evening gown
and reminded the audience that she got her start in the modelling
industry.
“It paved the way to my career as an actress,” she
told the audience. “But I remember my days as a model, which
is why I wanted to arrange this show. There are not many grand
fashion shows in Yangon like there were in the early days of modelling
industry here.”
She said arranging the show had been a difficult job, and she
graciously thanked all the people who had helped her make it possible.
One young audience member, Kyaw Thura Aung, said the event was
worth the price of the ticket.
“It’s such a grand fashion show . . . and if Eaindra
Kyaw Zin herself had been on the catwalk as a model it would have
been even better,” he said.

“I came here not only to see the fashion show and music
concert, but also to have fun with my friends,” said Daw
San San Lwin. “I am a socialite, and I am always looking
for the big events in town. Along with the Grand Ball at the Strand
Hotel, this event is one of the biggest in town.”
But one young girl, Pearl, was less enthusiastic, saying she
expected to see more beautiful and stylish dresses at the show.
However, the few people who may have had their spirits dampened
during the fashion show surely had them revived by the grand finale
of Five Fs Night: a live concert featuring Emperor Music Band
and singers R. Zar Ni, Tin Zar Maw, L Saing Zee and Sung Tin Par.
It was enough to keep everyone rocking until Yangon’s next
big event.
