Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor
Office (20) , Nay Pyi Taw
After 2015 election, the civilian government was emerged by means of the public’s votes. The new government tends to implement the policies such as development to multi-party democratic system, emergence of genuine market economy, establishment of federal union and promote national reconciliation, peace and development. In order to support these purposes, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was appointed as the State Counsellor according to the State Counsellor Law with 2016 Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Act (26), which stated in 6th April 2016. Also, the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor was established in 9th May 2016 to support the needs of Daw Aung Suu Kyi, State Counsellor and to negotiate and help when implementing the policies in Provision (3) of the State Counsellor Law. Moreover, U Kyaw Tint Swe has been appointed as the Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor on 17th May 2016 according to Constitution’s Provision stated in Section (232) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Section (12) of the Union Government Law and U Khin Maung Tin has been appointed as Deputy Minister on 4th July 2016 according to Constitution’s Provision stated in Section 234 (a) and (d) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and part (ix) of the Section 16 (b) of the Union Government Law.
The Objectives
According to the Provision (3) of the State Counsellor Act, the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor is established to give priority to four important national tasks,
(1) Development to multi-party democratic system,
(2) Emergence of genuine market economy,
(3) Establishment of Federal Union
(4) Promote national reconciliation, peace and development.
Duties and Obligations
The Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor mainly executes the progresses of national reconciliation and peace, development and peace in Rakhine State and to support the needs for implementing (4) purposes in State Counsellor Law and negotiate the policies that are stated by the State Counsellor. Moreover, under the guidance of the State Counsellor, the Ministry took lead to other important sectors including anti-corruption. And the ministry provides in implementing Peace, Prosperity and Democracy.
Departments under the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor
Since the Ministry was established, the processes were implementing under 7 departments. However, the two departments are organized under the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor to implement effectively and efficiently in 8th December 2017. They are
(1) Department of Policy Affairs and
(2) Department of Union Peace Formation.
