Myanmar National Human Rights Commission inspected Shwe Tha Htay Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Vocational Training Centre

   An Inspection team led by U Kyaw Soe, member of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission conducted inspection visits to Shwe Tha Htay Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Vocational Training Centre in Twante Township, Yangon Region on 16 January 2026 in accordance with the Sections 43 and 44 of the Commission Law.

   During the inspection of the Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Vocational Training Centre, the inspection team met the prisoners in their dormitories and inquired into and noted down the matters relating to their fundamental rights, including whether prisoners receive an adequate food supply, access to healthcare facilities and provision of sufficient purified drinking water, the receipt of items issued by the prison, the receipt of necessary personal-use items, whether there were discrimination in the assignment of work, torture and the observance of occupational safety within the workplace. In addition, the team also inspected dormitories, clinic, library, kitchen, food warehouse, water purifier, water storage tanks, and the cleanliness of internal and external sewage systems.

   Furthermore, the MNHRC donated 50 knowledgeable books for the benefit of the prisoners, which were received by the officer in charge of the Shwe Tha Htay Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Vocational Training Centre.

   The finding and recommendations from the inspection team’s visits will be sent to the relevant departments in accordance with the Commission Law for necessary actions.
